Red light cameras

I just thought this was kind of funny. In the city where we live they just installed red light cameras on every traffic light. You may ask why this is funny, well in the six months we have lived here I have only ever seen one person run a red light. For the most part every one obeys traffic laws and drives very courteously. For example when a lane is closed for construction everyone moves over way before the lane closes. I'm talking way before so there is no traffic being held up by merging because everyone already moved over. The first time I saw this take place it was so weired. One lane had about 30 cars in it and the other lane had not one. Nobody tried to get ahead of everyone by taking the lane that would be closing.

Ok back to the red light cameras. We live in a small town. There are only 3 stop lights to begin with, all on the main road within about a mile of each other. It just looks silly when you come into town and the lights all have these cameras. I don't know if they want to look like a big city or maybe someone's brother sells red light cameras. In Ca where people always run red lights aren't they turning them off because they cost more than they bring in?

I don't know if it seems funny to you but just imagine a tiny little town you have driven through before and picture the signs warning you that the upcoming signal has cameras. It just doesn't fit.

So does that mean they are going to have to charge like $5,000 for a ticket to make up for having them since people rarely run red lights? But hey, EVERYTHING is big in Texas, right? :)

Let me just say, the police in Hutto are ridiculous. I swear they must have nothing better to do than to come up with dumb stuff to do with traffic. I have never been pulled over in my entire life and withing 3 months of living in Hutto I got pulled over twice at the same corner for stupid stuff (like possible drunk driving because I was driving at 2:00 in the morning). They are so cranky here so I'm not surprised about the cameras. No they don't make sense, but that's the Hutto police for you. Thanks for listening to my little soap box.
