October Highlights

This is just a fun picture to show Kaylah's hair. We have been straightening it a lot lately and Robb thought you would like to see it. And yes it is still a bit curly but that is as straight as her hair gets. When she had long hair we couldn't braid it because the braid would curl into a ringlet.

Birthdays- For my birthday I got tickets to go to Time Out for Women in San Antonio. I went with a group of friends from church. The conference was great and we had a lot of fun, and met some fun new friends. We stayed at the home of one of my friends mom. Every thing about the weekend was perfect until the drive home. I noticed some signs saying the 35 North was closed due to an accident,  but I kept hoping it would be open when we got there since none of us know the area. After being in stop and go traffic for a while we discovered that the freeway was indeed closed. A sign said to take 145(or some such number). So we did since we had no choice. We pulled out a map to figure out what to do next and were relieved to find out the road we were now on would just loop around the city then hook back up with the 35.  After a while we noticed a sign saying 35 South. We knew our exit would be next. We did see the sign for 35 North but the only way you could get to it was to take 35 South exit.(Who designed these roads?) No problem we just got off at the next exit and turned around to catch it from the other side. But as luck would have it the ramp from the other direction was closed. No problem we just got off at the next exit and turned around to catch it from the other side. We knew better now so we took the 35 south exit then when it split we followed the signs and got on 35 north. Whew, what an adventure. A little while later we saw a sign that didn't make any sense. The sign read "35 North to San Antonio". How could this be we left San Antonio about an hour and a half ago going north? When we saw a second sign saying the same thing we knew something was definitely wrong. We looked up the exit number we were approaching on the map and sure enough we were somehow south of San Antonio.  We were further south than we started and we had to figure out a different way to get home. The 35 was still closed so if we kept going we would do the whole thing over again. One of the girls called her husband and had him go online to figure out where we were and to plan us a route to get home.  Eventually we did get home, but it took more than twice as long as it should have.

The big ONE-O!!! Yes my little baby is in the double digits. We had a kick back day and went to the Dollar theatre to see Wall-E. She wants me to tell everyone what her favorite gift was. She is getting her own e-mail account, so family be expecting an e-mail soon. Isn't it funny that the cheapest gift($0.50) is the favorite.
Blowing out the match in her Ice Cream. I couldn't remember where the candles were.

Making caramel apples. Thank you Grandma and Papa! They were so good. Unfortunately the stomach flu is going around and Kaylah got very sick in the middle of the night after we had these. Now she doesn't even want to look at a caramel apple. When Kristana got the rest of hers out to eat Kaylah would hide her face and say "DON'T LET ME SEE THAT!!!" I hope she'll get over this.

Pumpkin festival at a Christmas tree farm. This was a lot of fun. They had hay rides, pony rides(most of the "ponies" were actually horses), live music and dancing, food, games, gift stores, pumpkin painting, play areas for the kids, antique tractors, a haunted forest, hay and corn mazes(unfortunately the wild pigs ate most of the corn maze).

This was a very creative activity, rubber duck races. The kids place a rubber duck in a PVC pipe that has been cut in half, then they pump water from an old fashion pump to move the duck through the track. The first one back wins. We wish there weren't so many kids waiting, Robb and I would have loved to have ago at it.
Here is the scarecrow Kaylah made.
Kristana being silly on top of a little hay jump.
The girls and me in front of one of the many photo op locations. We had a great time and plan to come back next year. We also want to visit in December for the Christmas festivities.

I can not believe how grown up Kaylah looks in that first picture. She should not look that old at 7. What happened to the little girl?

Thanks for the comment on our blog and the congrats for Lacey--Carl said he never played K-division, so he doesn't remember the Mighty Might memory--but it's funny nonetheless! Have a great THANKSGIVING! We do miss you guys--
