Here's a glimpse of the wild backyard we inherited after 8 years of neglect. This is after a year of low rainfall! This is about a month before we put the grass in, so the weeds were much taller by then. Can you find the lawn mower in this picture?!

This is the "high quality, beautiful sod" (according to the guy we bought it from) the day after we laid it. Notice the dead "racing" stripes? Cool upgraded feature! But still it was a great improvement!!
After a month of a lot of weeding (especially in the racing stripes) and of course, watering, almost all of it is healthy. Here it is right before its first cut.
Doesn't it look cute with its new cut! If this were a scrapbook I'd include a strand of grass clippings! So we've got a nice little patch of lawn. The racing stripes are filling in (still gotta watch the weeds). Sure is nice compared to what we had before. Now I go to the BBQ without a machete!!!
