In the early 1900's, a circus came to lil' ole' Hutto and two Hippos got loose. They holed up in a local pond and refused to come out. It took like a week or something to get them. The female's name was Henrietta. Because of this fun, odd event, Hutto decided to make the hippo its mascot. This statue in her honor is in the very little original downtown Hutto.
